Our Story

A Foundation of Purpose: The Blu Ripples® Story

The story of Blu Ripples® begins with the lived experience of our founder, Katherine Foster. Her journey through life’s transitions, the unexpected ripples that challenge our stability, life, identity, and self-concept, became the catalyst for a new direction.

Katherine’s mission grew from a simple, heartfelt realisation:

“I know what it is like to have support, and I know what it is like not to have support.

I choose to be the support for others –  Helping them through life’s ripples”

Katherine Foster, Founder

This personal history is the heart of our practice. It is what drives Katherine to combine her decades of experience in Business and Human Resources with a deep commitment to supporting others through change. To help navigate these transitions, Katherine developed Foster’s Life Transitions, Ripples, and Growth Model, a five-stage framework designed to help individuals and organisations move through the turbulence of change toward a state of sustainable growth, clarity, and evolution.

The Evolution of Blu Ripples®

A Thirty-Year Legacy of Navigation: The Evolution of Blu Ripples®

What started in the early 1990s as a foundation in Administration and HR evolved into Katherine’s first practice, HR Aspects, in 2003. As her qualifications grew, the practice naturally evolved into Blu Ripples® in 2009—a dedicated space designed to support the “whole, integrated person.”

In 2017, the practice refined its focus to provide specialist career education and development, consulting, and career counselling alongside integrated, holistic and complementary counselling and support services. This approach specifically addresses personal issues, such as trauma, transition, and grief and loss, that may impact career exploration, decision-making, and management.

Today, Katherine continues to support individuals and organisations across both specialist Career Counselling and Career Consulting areas, and complementary specialist areas. This includes an expanded and consistently evolving range of proprietary and standardised Psychometric Assessments, alongside the conceptualisation and implementation of her self-care products and sessions.

To hold a safe, trauma-aware space, Katherine integrates therapeutic techniques such as Eye Movement Integration Therapy (EMIT), Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), and grounding strategies. This person-centred, integrative, holistic, and practitioner-led approach ensures that the “pieces of the puzzle” are brought together, honouring the mind, body, and the core values that ground each individual, to help them move forward with dignity and a clear, meaningful plan.

Our Philosophy And Approach

The Integrated Perspective: Where Human Insight Meets Strategic and Academic Rigour

At Blu Ripples®, we believe that your career is more than a series of roles—it is a vital pillar of your identity that supports and nurtures your self-concept and self-efficacy.

Building on a professional foundation that began in the early 1990s, Blu Ripples® represents the natural evolution of decades of experience across Administration, Business Management, Human Resources, and Counselling, underpinning our specialist practice in Career Counselling and Consulting. This deep industry history, combined with a commitment to academic excellence and continuous professional development, informs our core belief: that whether working with an individual or an organisation, every client deserves a practitioner who truly understands the complexities of the human experience and can view a situation from various angles to find the right path forward.

We recognise that career “stuckness” and career indecision are rarely just about a resumé or a single event. It is often intertwined with psychosocial, emotional, and cognitive barriers, as well as practical limitations, including the impacts of trauma, grief, or the loss of professional identity, or navigating complex personal histories.

As a Professional Member of the CDAA and a Registered Counsellor with the ACA, Katherine provides a unique, multi-faceted professional space. It is this rare combination of qualifications and multi-sector experience that allows her to view each client’s journey through multiple lenses – integrating HR, business, counselling, and career development perspectives that few in the industry can offer simultaneously. We don’t just look at the surface; we look at the whole, integrated person, examining the pieces of the puzzle from multiple angles to help you move forward with dignity and a clear, strategic, and meaningful plan.
